mendeleev
so i finally got around to putting up mendeleev. we filmed this in the summer of 2001. it's about mendeleev trying to find the order to the elements while the kgb is hunting him down. the production quality is low and it has some issues, but i think this is the movie i'm proudest of. also, it stars jesse bertron, so you know that that part of it's going to be good. and this is the first in what i consider a group of stories. the others are the neil armstrong story, the shark story, and the sun exploding story.

also: this is the first movie where we played with different camera angles within a scene.

background: i first had the idea of a movie about mendeleev back in elementary or 6th grade, but i didn't have a good plot for it. and there was one scene in particular that i knew how it should look, where he finally finds the order (spoiler!). and in 2001, i finally figured out what the rest of the plot should be. jesse told me 1 or 2 days before that kate west would be coming, so i had to quickly rewrite the script to put her in it, which shows (note: only complaining about my writing skills here). and at the last minute, we found out dale had to work that day (he was supposed to be mendeleev), so we had several people playing multiple roles. and yeah.

i should probably also mention that i pulled this onto my computer from a vhs tape.
